A New Kurseong
Not a promise of distant change — but a blueprint for the Kurseong our children deserve. A place where no one has to leave to find a future.
"Kurseong is not a place people should feel compelled to leave. It is a place worth staying for, fighting for, and building for — together."
Kurseong has always been more than its hills and its tea. It is a community of resilient people — workers, students, entrepreneurs, and families — who have endured years of unfulfilled promises and systemic neglect. Mohan Sharma's vision is not born in political ambition. It is born in lived experience: the experience of unemployment, of navigating broken systems, of building opportunity where none existed.
This vision is simple: build systems that work for people. Transparent governance. Real employment. Dignified wages. Accessible healthcare and justice. Empowered women. Proud local identity. These are not ideals — they are achievable targets with clear timelines.
Six Pillars of a Self-Reliant Kurseong
Every great community is built on a foundation. Kurseong's foundation will be built on six pillars — each addressing a structural gap that has held our people back for too long.
A Connected Employment Ecosystem
Kurseong’s youth should have access to global opportunities without leaving behind their roots. The vision is a permanent, MLA-backed employment system — not a one-time camp, but an ongoing infrastructure connecting our people to verified, well-paying work both in India and abroad.
Employment · International Recruitment · Skill Building
A Proud & Profitable Tea Economy
Kurseong’s tea is celebrated around the world. The people who grow it deserve a share of that glory — and that wealth. The vision is a brand-led, worker-first tea economy where Kurseong Tea is a globally recognised identity and wages reflect the true value of labour.
Fair Wages · Global Branding · Local Growth
Women as Economic Leaders
No vision for Kurseong is complete without women at its centre. The goal is financial independence through self-help groups and micro-businesses, safety through fast-response legal support, and dignity through access to health and education — so every household in Kurseong has a woman who leads.
Empowerment · Safety · Economic Independence
Justice Without Barriers
In Kurseong’s vision, a citizen’s access to justice should not depend on their bank balance. Free legal help desks, fast-track support for vulnerable groups, and active rehabilitation of the wrongfully accused are the foundations of a society that treats every person with equal dignity.
Free Legal Aid · Protection · Rehabilitation
Healthcare That Reaches You
Geography should never be a reason someone in Kurseong cannot access emergency care. The vision is a 24/7 responsive health network — ambulance coordination, mental health counseling, mobile medical units — that meets citizens where they are, not where facilities happen to be.
Emergency Response · Mental Health · Mobile Care
Governance You Can See
A government that doesn’t report to the people is not accountable to them. The vision for Kurseong includes open budgets, monthly public performance reports, and citizen feedback meetings as standard practice — not exceptions. Every rupee, every decision, visible to all.
Transparency · Open Budget · Public Accountability
The Kurseong of Tomorrow
What We Are Building Toward
A Town of Stayers
Where youth choose to build their careers here — not because they have no options elsewhere, but because Kurseong gives them better ones at home.
Living Wages in the Gardens
Where tea garden workers earn ₹400+ per day — wages that reflect the world-class product they produce and the dignity they deserve.
A Digitally Empowered Community
Where every citizen understands their rights, accesses government schemes, and participates in the economy — online and offline.
Justice for Everyone
Where no family goes unheard because they cannot afford a lawyer, and no woman lives in fear because help is too far away.
A Proud Local Identity
Where Kurseong Tea is sold globally under its own name, tourism thrives, and residents are proud ambassadors of their home.
Mohan's Six Promises to Kurseong
A Personal Commitment
1. No youth forced to migrate blindly.
Every young person from Kurseong who wants to work — in India or abroad — will have access to a verified, supported, legally protected employment pathway. Not a promise of a job fair. A permanent system.
2. No worker underpaid or unheard.
Tea garden wages will be taken to the Assembly floor — not as a talking point, but as a legislative priority. Kurseong Tea will be branded and sold globally so the value stays with those who create it.
3. No family without healthcare access.
Emergency response, mental health counseling, and mobile medical units will reach Kurseong’s most remote corners. No one will suffer because help was too slow or too far.
4. No woman left without opportunity or protection.
Women’s support centres, legal fast-track response, financial independence programs these will be operational within 100 days. Not years. Not someday. Within 100 days.
5. No citizen denied justice due to money.
Free legal help desks. Proactive support for the vulnerable. Rehabilitation over punishment. A justice system that serves the people not just those who can pay for it.
6. Skill, Awareness & Youth Development
This is not about politics. This is about building systems that work for people. I have lived the struggle. I have created opportunities. Now I am here to make that system accessible to everyone."
